NHL insider Frank Seravalli has just provided some clarity on the Connor McDavid injury, stating the Oilers superstar is going to miss at least eight games.

The Edmonton Oilers and hockey fans worldwide are waiting for an update regarding superstar Connor McDavid's injury. In his very first shift in Monday's game, McDavid sustained an apparent lower-body injury, which forced him out of the lineup for the remainder of the game. The incident has raised worries because McDavid is a huge piece of the Oilers, and his real injury condition has not been defined yet, which, in turn, creates a lot of speculation in the fans' heads regarding his impact on team performance.

In Wednesday night's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, McDavid was injured a mere 15 seconds into the game. The Jackets' defenseman Zach Werenski was called for tripping McDavid, who went down awkwardly, jamming his left skate into the boards. Even though McDavid finished his shift, which lasted 37 seconds, he didn't return to the ice, and the Oilers lost 6-1. Within minutes of the incident, the Oilers tweeted that McDavid had a lower-body injury, lining up the fears of fans and analysts everywhere.

Following the game, Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch confirmed that McDavid would head back to Edmonton to get further testing done on the injury to determine its severity. As is likely to be expected, McDavid isn't likely to take part in Thursday's game, but hopefully, his time away from the lineup isn't too serious considering how grueling the schedule is for the Oilers over the next few weeks.

According to hockey insider Frank Seravalli on Daily Faceoff LIVE, additional imaging is required to confirm the severity of McDavid's injury. If things aren't too bad, he could be in for a multi-week absence, like Aleksander Barkov of the Florida Panthers, who finally returned to play after eight games out of the lineup. This, according to Seravalli, would be the best-case scenario. Jason Gregor from Oilersnation quoted an unnamed source as saying the injury "isn't too serious," which, along with the captain himself seemingly in decent spirits, gives fans and teammates something positive to hope for.

With Connor McDavid out, a call-up from the Oilers' AHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors, will be necessary in preparation for Thursday's contest. Among prospects who could be options, Noah Philp and Matt Savoie are few and far between, neither of whom can really replace the league's best player. With the Oilers embarking on an important stretch, the focus remains on the recovery of McDavid with the hope of him returning fully and quickly to the lineup, but as Frank Seravalli stated, it could be at best eight games or so missed.
