Today a new report has linked the Vancouver Canucks to a 50-goal scorer in a wild three team mock trade.

Elias Pettersson continues to not fit in with the Vancouver Canucks even after the trade to send away J.T. Miller.

As a result, trades are popping up for the Canucks to send Pettersson away and get a quality player in return.

Tonight a new mock trade has been suggested by Ryan Dixon of Sportsnet that would land the Canucks the best power forward in hockey.

Vancouver Canucks Linked To Major Three Team Trade With The Hurricanes

In the report from Dixon he suggests one major move that would solve the Canucks problem.

The trade in question would bring Mikko Rantanen to the Canucks a player on an expiring contract that has already been traded once.

Carolina Hurricanes receive: Alex Tuch (50 per cent salary retention), 2026 Canucks second-round pick

Buffalo Sabres receive: Elias Pettersson

Vancouver Canucks receive: Dylan Cozens, Mikko Rantanen

With the Canucks receiving both Dylan Cozens and Mikko Rantanen they could put Rantanen back to his natural wing position and slot Cozens at center.

This would put an end to all of the speculation surrounding Pettersson and allow the Canucks to move forward.

The biggest thing in a trade like this would be to make sure that Rantanen signs an extension before the trade is done or shortly after.

If they trade for Rantanen with no extension planned then it could be a risky move that will bite Patrik Allvin and the Canucks in the end.

As this situation continues to develop and the Canucks trade plans become clear we will pass along the latest news to you.
