Noah Juulsen's season appears to be over, as the Canucks announced he will have surgery in the coming days that will keep him off the ice for months.

It all started off when Noah Juulsen was placed on injured reserve this past Saturday, with what was an undisclosed issue. Juulsen wasn't on the Canucks' five-game road trip, so the move freed up a roster spot if they needed it later on.

Now, in some unfortunate news, it was announced that Juulsen will be out for the rest of the season, as he is dealing with a hernia that will require surgery in the coming days, as reported by NHL insider Rick Dhaliwal.

Elias Pettersson and Carson Soucy played as the third defensive pairing Saturday versus the Golden Knights, but now that Quinn Hughes is back, the Canucks are hoping despite this unfortunate news, they can have stability on the back end.

Juulsen should be ready for the 2025-26 campaign given what is usually an expected 6-12 week recovery timeline for sports hernia surgery.

Unfortunately for the 27-year-old defenseman, his season will end after having failed to register a single point in 35 games, though he did level out 101 hits along the way.

Juulsen was a 1st-round draft pick in 2015

Juulsen was a draft pick of the Montreal Canadiens back in 2015 when they selected him in the 1st round with the 26th overall pick.

He hasn't really lived up to his potential ever since, having only played in 157 career games, scoring three goals and adding 14 assists for 17 points. He has been somewhat of a defensive reliability, with a career plus/minus of -13.
