Brad Treliving is in a unique predicament, inheriting a team that is chalk full of cap struggles and expiring superstar contracts. Moving one of these three players is the most likely outcome for the new GM.

William Nylander

William Nylander is one of the best contracts in the NHL right now. The key word here is 'right now' since the superstar is expected to bring in anywhere from 9-10 million AAV on his next deal. If Treliving is looking to offload some of his contract extension troubles, Nylander is a potential piece that would return significant assets for the club.

Nic Robertson

Robertson has shown some real promise in his few NHL matches with the Leafs. However, the Leafs scoring depth (along with some injury trouble) makes it very difficult for Robertson to find his way into the lineup. With only 1 year left on his entry-level deal, the time is now to move him.

Matt Murray

Murray has some injury issues which has put him on the long-term injured reserve list. While this helps the Leafs' cap situation, it doesn't help them in the long run, as Murray continues to age out of his prime. The Leafs may be looking to bolster some of their future development if they can move him for a pick.
