Fans pile on Corey Perry following Oilers dressing room video leaks

The Edmonton Oilers lost to the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup final this year, but now a new video has emerged and fans have taken it as an opportunity to poke fun at Corey Perry.

The video features multiple angels from within the Oilers locker room in the first moments after their loss to the Florida Panthers in game seven, squashing their miracle-like comeback. Understandably, everyone is dead silent. The crowd and Gary Bettman can be heard talking on the ice. It is clear how much misery the players are all in. As we hear Bettman officially award the Stanley Cup to the Florida Panthers, the camera cuts to Corey Perry, who has famously lost in the Stanley Cup finals in four of the last five seasons. Naturally, fans took this as an opportunity to make fun of him for it.

Some fans also commented on Connor McDavid's decision not to go out on the ice to accept his Conn Smythe trophy. Most already agreed that he did the right thing even before the video came out, but now it is universally regarded as the right move, given how devastated they all clearly were.

Notably, Leon Draisaitl is seen speaking at the end of the video and he says he hoped everyone on the team returns, because he felt they were special. The Oilers seem to have agreed with him as many of their free agents stayed on including Perry and Adam Henrique, who was acquired at the trade deadline.
