Tonight a new report from Darren Dreger has added a new goaltender to the trade block with the dealing quickly approaching. With the NHL Trade Deadline just a couple of weeks away trade reports are at an all-time high. Throughout the month the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers have both been linked to goaltenders for different reasons. The Canucks are down a goalie after Thatcher Demko was forced out with an injury that could keep him out for a while. In the case of the Oilers, the team is looking for an upgrade to go along with Stuart Skinner and solidify the position both this season and beyond. Tonight a report from Dreger has brought yet another potential name to the table who could bring a major upgrade to either team.
Darren Dreger Reveals Utah Hockey Club Goalie Is On The Block
In a post on X by Dreger he speaks about the ongoing contract negotiations between goalie Karel Vejmelka and the Utah Hockey Club. According to Dreger's sources, the two sides are not close and with Utah out of a playoff spot, he believes Vejmelka is a prime trade candidate for the deadline.

At 28 years old Vejmelka has played 34 games already for the Utah Hockey Club and put up solid numbers with a 2.57 goals against average and a 0.909 save percentage. Bringing in Vejmelka would likely cost significant assets and then of course there would be the issue of nailing down an extension. For both the Oilers and Canucks a move like this could make sense, particularly in the short term. In the long-term, the Oilers would likely be the team more interested in an extension as they need a backup goalie of the future. The Oilers would likely give up a couple of mid-round picks as well as current backup goaltender Calvin Pickard. As for the Canucks they would need to determine Thatcher Demko's situation before making any long-term commitments. The Canucks would need to find a package of picks and players as well to send if they were to go after Vejmelka and could even give up young goalie Arturs Silovs. As more reports become available regarding Karel Vejmelka's future in Utah and beyond we will pass along the latest news.
