The Calgary Flames missed on three conditional draft picks in these Stanley Cup Playoffs. With the Stanley Cup Final now locked in between the Florida Panthers and the Edmonton Oilers, all those conditional picks the Flames were banking on didn't pan out. The Flames missed out on three potential conditional picks this postseason.

The Flames made three trades this past year, all with conditions tied to the playoff success of other teams the Vancouver Canucks, the Dallas Stars, and the Vegas Golden Knights. They traded Elias Lindholm to the Canucks, with a condition that if Vancouver made it to the Western Conference Finals, a fourth-round pick would become a third-rounder. Yet, the Canucks fell short in the second round, so the Flames won't be getting that upgrade. Then there was the trade involving Chris Tanev to the Dallas Stars. The Flames were eyeing a conditional third-round pick in 2026 if the Stars made it to the Stanley Cup Finals. Well, that didn't happen, so the Flames will only be cashing in on the second-round pick this year. The Flames sent Noah Hanifin packing to the Vegas Golden Knights. They were hoping for a pick upgrade if Vegas won a playoff round this year. Unfortunately, the Golden Knights bowed out in the first round, leaving the Flames with just the original pick for this year's draft. So, despite the anticipation and hopes for draft pick upgrades, the Flames are walking away from this playoff season empty-handed in terms of those conditional picks. That's the way the puck bounces sometimes in the world of NHL trades and playoffs!
