The St. Louis Blues shocked everyone by putting in offer sheets for two of the Oilers' fan-favorites, Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway. Blues GM Doug Armstrong made waves by offering Broberg $4.58 million-a huge jump from the Oilers' offer of $1.3 million. Holloway, too, received a bigger offer at $2.3 million, compared to Edmonton's $1.8 million. For restricted free agents, the rule is that the original team has seven days to match the offer or receive a compensation pick based on the amount they don't match. Both were critical during the Oilers run to the Stanley Cup Final where they fell to the Florida Panthers in seven games, nearly rallying from an 0-3 series deficit. Yes, losing them hurts Mcdavid and Draisaitl because they were great teammates and friends, but hockey is a business too.
