The Edmonton Oilers are loading up for another Stanley Cup chase in 2024/25, but it may unfortunately lead to the loss of one of their young blue liners. After a successful 2023/24 campaign, the Edmonton Oilers are full of optimism for the 2024/25 NHL season, and with that, they've gone out in free agency and loaded up on an already talented roster. That comes with many positives, but unfortunately there may be some negatives too, as Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff has now suggested young defenseman Philip Broberg could be offer sheeted in the coming weeks. Should Edmonton be concerned about a potential offer sheet for Philip Broberg?

It's not going to be cheap for any team interested in making it happen, but if given an offer of $4.5 million over multiple years, it's unlikely that the cash-strapped Oilers could match any offer. It won't come without a cost however, as any team that offers such a number would be forced to give up significant draft capital, but given his playoff production, it may be worth the chance. At 23-years of age, Broberg emerged in the playoff with three points and a +8 goal differential in 10 games, and with 81 NHL games now under his belt, he's prepared for a bigger role than these Oilers can offer, so expect many teams to keep an eye on the situation over the coming months.
