The Toronto Maple Leafs have been toying with the idea of moving Nick Robertson for months, and now they could potentially land a former No. 5 overall pick.

2023/24 was a career year in the NHL for Nick Robertson, who tallied 14 goals and 27 points for Toronto, but after not getting the role he would have liked, he officially requested a trade from the team that drafted him in the second round back in 2019. Now, a trade proposal has emerged that would see Robertson head West to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for another underperforming young forward in Alex Turcotte, who has yet to get a true shot in the NHL.

Now that #LeafsForever's Nick Robertson has requested a trade, could a swap with 2019 5th overall pick Alex Turcotte be in the cards?

Both need a change of scenery, and LA could utilize Robertson's scoring better. Turcotte could slot in the the Leafs' bottom-six nicely.

Who do you think would win this trade?

The 23-year old has played just 32 games in the league over the past three years, but has flashed plenty of promise for the AHL's Ontario Reign over that same stretch. Given the Maple Leafs needs of bottom-six forwards and Robertson being frustrated with his role, this would fit Turcotte perfectly, as it would allow him his first real shot in the NHL, while Robertson would likely play a part in the Kings top-six if a deal went through.

Given Robertson's production at the NHL level, the Kings would likely need to attach some assets to the deal to make it happen, but given where both teams are right now, it would certainly make sense for a deal of this type to go through before the 2024/25 regular season begins.
