The Toronto Maple Leafs haven't closed the door on trading Mitch Marner this summer, but this trade proposal might just be a step too far. The Montreal Canadiens are taking a big step towards their rebuild finishing up, but could they do that with Mitch Marner from the Toronto Maple Leafs? That was an idea floated out by gambling site Bodog Casino on social media, and unsurprisingly, it was shot down by not only Maple Leafs fans, but Canadiens fans as well. 🚨😳 Montreal Mitch? Could the Habs work a deal with Toronto to land Mitch Marner this offseason? 🤔

More than likely, the company used this idea to drive engagement and eyes to their post, and they've done just that, but given the situation that both organizations are in, there's no trade that makes less sense for Marner. In Montreal, the rebuild is still a year or two away from being complete, and with Toronto unlikely to want any of the players that the Canadiens would deem available, it's just not happening. Given recent comments from Craig Berube, the likelihood of a Marner trade is dwindling more and more by the day, but if he is moved, don't expect it to be to Montreal. He's a character guy, a great person, Berube said. I'm looking forward to coaching him. Source: Daily Hockey Dose Ridiculous trade proposal suggests Mitch Marner could end up in Montreal
