Last night a scary scene developed in the Finnish Elite League (SM-Liiga) when Juuso Vainio collapsed in the middle of a game and required serious medical attention. Reports are coming out of Finland that JYP defenseman Juuso Vainio experienced a medical event last night in their game against <a href='https://www.kookoo.fi' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>KooKoo.</a> The 30-year-old professional hockey veteran collapsed on the ice and trainers immediately came out to tend to the player. It was determined that an ambulance would be needed to take Juuso Vainio for further medical attention. Unfortunately, the team would soon find out there was not an ambulance on standby in the arena. Therefore the game had to be stopped and trainers had to tend to Juuso Vainio and waited for the ambulance to arrive. According to their statement, Juuso Vainio had use of his extremities and was conscious when he was taken to Central Finland Hospital for further evaluation. The player was conscious the entire time and all of the player's limbs were moving. Vainio was taken by ambulance to Central Finland Hospital for further examinations. After the situation, the ice was repaired with an ice machine and the game continued as normal. One of the most recent instances in the NHL was when New York Rangers defenseman Ryan Lindgren <a href='https://www.hockeylatest.com/nhl/news/first-pictures-of-ryan-lindgren-injury-emerge-after-leaving-outdoor-game-in-an-ambulance' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>had to leave an outdoor game in an ambulance after a big hit into the boards.</a> <a href='https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/60915/juuso-vainio' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>In 11 games for JYP this season Vainio does not have a point and last season he played 53 games and tallied 3 points.</a> Before playing with JYP in SM-Liiga Juuso Vainio played for Vaxjo in the Swedish Hockey League. Luckily this situation seems to have turned out ending well with Juuso Vainio getting the medical care he needs. After the player is taken care of a review will now be needed to see why there was not an ambulance on standby and why it took so long to get one into the arena.
