The NHL's latest update to its power rankings is sure to shock fans across the league, particularly those in Toronto and Edmonton with the latest positions. We are going to take a look at all of the Canadian NHL teams in this week's release of the NHL power rankings, and some of these teams' positions will blow your mind. For the first time this season, the Edmonton Oilers stand alone as the top-ranked Canadian team in the TSN weekly Power Rankings.

The Oilers jumped three spots to seventh after going 2-1-0 on the week. One of the better defensive teams in the league, their expected goals against is second in the league; they're now getting adequate goaltending to support it. Edmonton has allowed just 2.00 goals per game over its last five games, and their goals saved above expected ranks 13th over that span after being the NHL's third-worst to this point. Meanwhile, the Winnipeg Jets dropped from ninth to 11th. They're still fourth in points percentage on the back of that record-setting start, but the offense has chilled. Since that blistering 15-1-0 start at plus 4.5 goals per game, the Jets are 5-8-0, averaging 2.31 goals per game, 28th in the league. There's a glimmer of hope, as winger Nikolaj Ehlers might be back on the practice ice soon. Meanwhile, the Toronto Maple Leafs dropped a whopping six spots to 13th after a couple of losses this week. Depth scoring had been an issue with all six of the team's goals of late coming from Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, John Tavares, and William Nylander, leaving the rest of the roster scoreless. Up next is a date with the red-hot Devils on Tuesday.

The Vancouver Canucks fell to 15th, down one spot. They are 13th in goal differential but 21st in expected goal differential. They will take their next four on the road at home and without key contributors Thatcher Demko and J.T. Miller in the lineup. That puts the Senators, 16th after a 2-1-0 week, in decent shape despite falling 4-2 to the Isles despite dominating that game. The Calgary Flames fell to 26th having lost six of their last seven. That early-season goaltending magic is long gone, and now the Flames are firmly on the playoff bubble. Finally, the Montreal Canadiens were ranked 29th; Patrik Laine electrified the lineup in the first few games of his career. They'll host the Ducks on Monday night.
