On Sunday, two players hit the NHL waiver wire including the former first-round pick Julien Gauthier.

We had a lot of action on waivers in the training camp and earlier this season. After a few quiet days, we have a new update to report: the Islanders and the Devils placed Julien Gauthier and Adam Beckman on the wire

Back in 2016, the Carolina Hurricanes decided to draft the forward Julien Gauthier at the 21st overall pick. Since then, it hasn't been an easy journey for the 27-year-old Quebecer. After three seasons in the AHL with the Charlotte Checkers and a few games with the Canes in 2019-20, he was traded to the New York Rangers, where he played for four seasons. Unfortunately, many injuries came in the way of his success in New York. He ended up being traded once again, despite being an appreciated member of the Rangers, this time to the Ottawa Senators. Then in 2023, he signed a two-year contract with the New York Islanders.

After playing only one game in the 2024-25 NHL season, the Islanders decided to send him back to the AHL, and is now on waivers.

The insider Elliotte Friedman shared an official update about him, and another player who is currently available on waivers: Adam Beckman.

Check out his post on X here:

Beckman, 23, was drafted 75th overall by the Minnesota Wild in 2019. In 2020, he signed his entry-level contract and then was traded to the New Jersey Devils last summer. In the past three years, the Canadian winger took part in 23 NHL games, all with the Wild, and scored three assists.

It'll be interesting to see if either of these players are claimed on waivers. I believe some teams could be interested in getting Gauthier, who has more NHL experience than Beckman. Indeed, with 181 games played, as well as three in the playoffs, he had some success in the League, tallying 41 points in his NHL career.

Stay tuned as their fates will be revealed in 24 hours.
