The Calgary Flames and Philadelphia Flyers made quite the trade last night, and GM Craig Conroy broke his silence regarding a very emotional Jakob Pelletier.

The Calgary Flames took a dominating 4-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks last evening, but off-ice news stole the spotlight.

The rumor mill began early when both Andrei Kuzmenko and then Jakob Pelletier were scratched at the last minute, and at the conclusion of the evening, it was confirmed, that the two had been traded to the Flyers in Philadelphia.

The Flames traded Kuzmenko, Pelletier, a 2025 second-round pick, and a 2028 seventh-round pick for Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee in a deal reached in the evening.

Flames general manager Craig Conroy, publicly expressing a desire for a young center, confirmed it was not an easy decision to part with two key players but is satisfied with the return.

Craig Conroy admits Pelletier took the trade hard

Craig Conroy also spoke about a very emotional Jacob Pelletier, who appeared to be taking the news he was traded very hard.

"He (Pelletier) was emotional, I was emotional for him."

Head coach Ryan Huska shared that same emotion, citing the loss of both Pelletier and Kuzmenko but looking to build with new additions.

With the trade having been reached in the evening, Huska hadn't much opportunity to make any tweaks to his lineup for last evening's contest, but despite that, the Flames took a critical win, moving them over the Vancouver Canucks for a playoff position.

The Flames have a break through to Saturday when they face off with the Red Wings, and both Frost and Farabee will wear a jersey for the first time with their new team. With new additions, playoff hopes for the Flames run strong.
