The Edmonton Oilers captain, Connor McDavid, sent a strong message to his fans after clinching the first Finals berth of his career.

For the first time since the 2020-2021 season, a Canadian team will get a chance at winning the Stanley Cup. The last time it happened, the Montreal Canadiens lost in five games against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Canadiens were also the last Canadian team to win a Stanley Cup, back in 1993, with Patrick Roy between the pipes.

The Oilers have the opportunity to bring back the Cup to Canada, and the whole country now supports Connor McDavid and his teammates as they prepare for a tough series against the Florida Panthers.

The Oilers' captain sent a message on Instagram, saying he's proud of his team and asking the fans to stay loud for the Finals:

With a whole country rallying behind the team, fans who get the chance to be in Edmonton for games at Rogers Place have a duty to help the team and be as loud as possible. That's what McDavid asked. With all the excitement surrounding the team, fans don't need additional motivation to be loud and support the Oilers going into game one, set to go down on Saturday, in Florida.
