The team announced the signing, with Skinner inking a one-year, $3 million contract.

Skinner has consistently been one of the top 5-on-5 goal scorers over the last decade. Since 2010, only Alex Ovechkin has more 5-on-5 goals than Skinner.
Most 5v5 goals since 2010

3) Patrick Kane - 251
4) John Tavares - 246
5) Steven Stamkos - 246

We got ourselves a sniper

Skinner shared why he chose to join the Oilers over other suitors like the Toronto Maple Leafs, following his buyout by the Buffalo Sabres. His primary motive is he wants to finally have a chance to participate in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Jeff Skinner says the "consistent interest" from the Oilers on Monday won him over. Naturally, an excellent chance to play on a team bound for the playoffs appealed to him, too.

Interestingly, the team's starting goaltender next season is expected to be Stuart Skinner, but the two Skinners are not related.
With another sniper in the mix, the Oilers' offense looks poised to be deadly next season.
If he can bounce back, who knows how many goals he could net playing alongside superstars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl?
