After seven years with the Vegas Golden Knights, Jonathan Marchessault has left the franchise to join the Nashville Predators on a five-year contract worth $5.5 million annually in NHL free agency.

The 2023 Conn Smyth trophy winner and Stanley Cup champion wanted to stay in Vegas, but felt disrespected in contract negotiations.
Jonathan Marchessault on leaving Vegas: "It was pretty tough tbh, the tough part of it also was there wasn't really a decent offer on the table, I don't think they tried their best to keep me, I mean it's part of the business and they probably have other plans

During his time with Vegas, Marchessault played in 514 games, and had 192 goals and 417 points, making him the franchise leader in all four categories. Last season, he tallied 69 points in 82 games.
25 pts in 22 games the season they won the Cup winning the Conn Smythe.

Wow, NHL really is a "what have you done for me lately?" business.

Now, he's joining another veteran, Steven Stamkos, with the Predators. Ultimately, while Marchessault played a pivotal role in Vegas' success, his feeling of not being wanted led him elsewhere.
Marchessault said he heard rumors that Stamkos (his former teammate in Tampa) was interested in Nashville, so he called him up to talk about. They both decided «yeah, we're doing it.» They said they're both excited to come over to the #Preds together.
