The New York Rangers captain Jacob Trouba almost landed the mother of all elbow hits on Carolina Hurricanes' Martin Necas last night in game 2. The game required two overtime periods to determine a winner. In the end, the Rangers won for the second straight time, leaving New York for Carolina with two wins in their pocket. In the first overtime period, the Rangers' captain Trouba almost landed the biggest hit of the playoffs. Trouba was going at full speed towards Martin Necas near the boards, and was raising his elbow just as he was closing in. Necas, who saw it coming, ducked at the last second and Trouba landed directly in the boards. But that's not all.
