We just learned a crazy detail about the injury suffered by Alex Belzile during Saturday's game against the Carolina Hurricanes.

While being interviewed in the last few minutes, the Quebec forward revealed that he broke his leg just before the Canes' third goal. The latter received a powerful shot from Sebastian Aho.

However, the CH number 60 did something almost superhuman, as he ended the game with a broken leg!

My colleague William Nadeau of Habs and NHL even noted that following the shot that broke his leg, Belzile continued his sequence, visibly banged up, by trying to block two other shots during the power play.

It's amazing!

See the images on this video (starting at 6 minutes 21 seconds):

By the way, here are the words of the main interested party concerning his return to the game despite his fracture.

In my mind, I had to go back. There were five games left in the season, I had to prove that I was still capable of playing," he said. I'm not in a seat where I can sit on my laurels. I had no choice but to go back and try to compete." - Alex Belzile

He added that it was when the game was over that he realized how critical the situation was.

"In the third period, it was okay. It was after the game, when the adrenaline went down, that I realized it was worse than I thought. But you always try to tell yourself it's not that bad." - Alex Belzile

It was a wickedly good show of character from the 31-year-old veteran, who proved he belongs on an NHL roster heading into next season.
