We know that the Habs have a nice bank of prospects, especially on defense. So much so that not all of them will be able to play for the team at the same time, and Kent Hughes will have some important decisions to make.

It's important for a player to have a role on a team, and when you look at young Justin Barron, it's hard to pin him down to a specific role. The arrival of youngsters Logan Mailloux and David Reinbacher has taken the wind out of his sails.

So much so that, according to Rob Couch of NHL Trade Rumors, Barron will start the season in Laval, and will most likely ultimately be traded.

I'm inclined to agree. Barron hasn't done enough since he was acquired from the Avalanche. He's certainly a future NHL player, but there are superior defensemen in Montreal and he could be a good bargaining chip.

It now remains to be seen what plan Kent Hughes has for him.
