Boston Bruins star forward David Pastrnak will be a hot commodity when the free agent market opens this summer. Pastrnak, who will become an unrestricted free agent, could break the bank.

He is currently spending the last year of his contract, which pays him an average of $6.67 million per year, and is looking for a huge salary increase.

According to journalist John Buccigross, he believes that the Bruins' management would have offered him a contract similar to the one Johnny Gaudreau signed in Columbus, i.e. eight years and approximately $10 million per year.

However, Pastrnak would like much more than that, and it must be said that with his production this season, he has all the arguments in his favor. The Bruins' number 88 has 32 goals and 58 points in 40 games. If he keeps up this pace for the rest of the campaign, Pastrnak will be flirting with 120 points and over 60 goals.

According to Buccigross, the Czech forward would be looking for an 8-year contract with a total value of close to $100 million, or an average of about $12.5 million per year. It should be noted that this is exactly the same contract that a certain Connor McDavid signed with the Oilers a few years ago.

In fact, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman expects the two sides to agree on an 8-year contract worth about $11 million per year. Buccigross believes that Pastrnak will not accept a lesser contract than the one signed by Artemi Panarin with the Rangers, which is $11.64 million per year.

This could be a big deal in Boston's offices, because the organization cannot afford to lose a player of the caliber of the one nicknamed "Pasta" for nothing.

It is undeniable that if the Bruins do not meet the demands of his player, another NHL team will certainly do so.
