In one of the weirdest scenes you would ever see during a professional hockey game, a player lost his phone on the ice as he skated down to the other end. Needless to say, pro hockey players really ought to leave their cell phones in the locker room when they hit the ice. But in a surreal moment overseas in KHL action, 27-year-old Nikita Dynyak's phone fell out of his gear in a game between his team, Kazan Ak-Bars, and Avangard. Initially not realizing what had happened, Nikita Dynyak kept on playing like nothing had occurred. A game official finally caught sight of the rogue phone, picked it up, and carried it over to the Ak-Bars bench to find out who it belonged to. It wasn't until then that Dynyak realized it was his phone. No word whether the phone was still in working order.

Dynyak has played his entire pro career in Russian hockey, the last five seasons with Kazan Ak-Bars. His name has popped up in headlines before, notably in 2021 when he and Karlis Cukste engaged in a brief but memorable fight, ending with both players landing simultaneous punches and hitting the ice together. Known to drop the gloves, Dynyak recently fought with former NHL'er Tony DeAngelo, now with SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL. As for what Dynyak was doing with a phone on his person during a game, your guess is as good as ours. If the phone survived that unintended plummet to the ice, well, Dynyak can consider himself fortunate that he won't have to go out and purchase himself a new one.
