The Montreal Canadiens have just made a major last minute announcement.

Here is the organization's press release:

"The Canadiens have issued an emergency recall of goalie Cayden Primeau from the Laval Rocket. He will be the backup to Sam Montembeault who will get the start tonight. Jake Allen has suffered an upper body injury and will be re-evaluated daily." - Montreal Canadiens

Allen was injured yesterday in practice, Renaud Lavoie reports.

Let's hope for Primeau's sake, as well as the Tricolore's, that this is only a minor injury. The last time Allen suffered such an injury, he unfortunately had to miss a lot more time than expected, so we'll have to keep an eye on it.

Allen, 32, compiled a 10-16-1 record this season, maintained a 3.52 GAA and a .892 SV%.

Primeau, 23, compiled a 4-6-3 record this season in the AHL, maintained a 3.65 GAA and .890 SVR. The young netminder just returned from a major injury that kept him out of action for nearly two months.

More details will follow.
