There's congestion at the goalie position on the Habs right now. Samuel Montembeault should be number one, then there's nothing. Will Jake Allen be traded? Will Casey DeSmith be traded? Will Cayden Primeau be traded? These questions loom large, but one thing is certain: two goaltenders will have to leave Montreal. As for Primeau, under his contract, he must absolutely go through the waivers if Kent Hughes wants to send him to Laval. This is probably what will happen, and Marc Dumont made a statement to that effect: I have big doubts that Cayden Primeau would be claimed if he were placed in waivers. In fact, I'll say it: There's virtually no chance he'll be claimed unless a team is desperate. Every other NHL team has a Cayden Primeau or two in their prospect pool, and most of them have better stats. - Marc Dumont That's a pretty major statement, and unfortunately, I'm afraid he's right. Since Primeau was selected in the 7th round in 2017, he's had a meteoric rise in the NCAA, but is very inconsistent in the pros and still hasn't shown he can establish himself in the NHL. Perhaps another year in Laval would be good for him, but with the arrival of Jakub Dobes, this complicates matters. A case to follow in his case. It all depends on the organization's willingness to continue developing him, otherwise I'm afraid the CH won't make him an offer next year.

#Habs Mailbag time!

- Stop trading Jordan Harris as if he didn't have a great rookie year
- The Ylonen and Primeau waiver situation
- The difference between Dach and Suzuki
- Why Mats Naslund was a joy to watch
- Prospects (Farrell, Hutson)

And more⬇️https://t.co/NcTPxoKhH8- Montreal Hockey Now (@MTLhockeynow) July 26, 2023
