After hinting at a possible trade being the end solution for the Canucks when it comes to Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller insider Elliotte Friedman has outlined the most likely scenario.

Yesterday Friedman fanned the flames of the Canucks controversy and revealed that the locker room is starting to split over the conflict.

This led to many outlets covering the idea that Miller or Pettersson could be traded by GM Patrik Allvin to salvage the locker room going forward.

However, today Friedman who went back through the situation as it developed over the last few months now has a new opinion on the team's next steps.

During his weekly 32 Thoughts Podcast Friedman revealed that the most likely outcome would keep both Miller and Petterson in Vancouver.

Elliotte Friedman does not expect the Canucks to trade J.T. Miller or Elias Pettersson

Friedman of course covered the drama that has continued in Vancouver on his 32 Thoughts Podcast.

First, he spoke about the Canucks situation from the perspective of what to do with J.T. Miller.

According to Friedman teams had tried to call about Miller's availability during his leave of absence but the Canucks shut down any talks with inquiring teams and continue to do so.

When Miller took his break, I think there were teams that called the Canucks and asked, 'When he comes back, is he going to stay a Canuck?' And I think the the Canucks basically said, 'We don't want to trade this guy,' Friedman said

With the idea of trading Miller out the window then Pettersson becomes the main conversation piece for teams in need of a star foward.

But once again teams tried to land Pettersson as far back as last season and the Canucks wanted no part of dealing him away.

Since then the Canucks have also given Pettersson a monster extension signaling that even with the disagreements in the past the Canucks believe in both players for the future.

And I think that with Elias Pettersson, we all know now, last year, that they could have traded him, and they didn't, and they gave him a lot of money, and so that says to me, by action, that the Vancouver Canucks believe they are a better team with both of those players...

This likely means that for the Vancouver Canucks to trade either Miller or Pettersson there would have to be a major problem between them that is doing immense harm to not only each other's play but the overall team as well.

At this point things have not gotten to a level where a trade is necessary the Canucks have held on to a Stanley Cup Playoff spot and seem to trending in the right direction.

However, if things start to head back downhill again and the Canucks fall out of a playoff spot one has to wonder how it will impact the locker room and the already icy relationships within it.
