The Colorado Avalanche are in a strange position right now. With the roster in place to try and match the Tampa Bay Lightning and win a second straight championship, the team has not had the success they wanted since the beginning of the season. Injuries have plagued the team, which is without two key offensive players, Gabriel Landeskog and Valeri Nichushkin, as well as defensemen Bowen Byram and Samuel Girard. The Avalanche could certainly use some help to right the ship, as they are fortunately in a very weak division and sit third in the Central Division, while they are 20th in the NHL. On that note, according to information from TSN tipster Pierre LeBrun, Habs forward Sean Monahan would be a target for the last Stanley Cup winners. With a center line that uses Evan Rodrigues to drive the second trio, followed by JT Compher on the third unit, no need to say that a backup would be more than necessary in Colorado. LeBrun adds that Jonathan Toews and Ryan O'Reilly, two players who won the Stanley Cup, would also be two players that would interest the Avalanche. It must be said that among the three names listed by the Avalanche, Monahan is the one with the most interesting contract, with an impact of $6.375M, as opposed to $7.5M and $10.5M for O'Reilly and Toews respectively. This will be a very interesting case to follow in the coming weeks.

Credit : Alexandre Desrosiers, Rumeurs de transaction
