It's no secret that Jonathan Drouin will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1st and unless there is a huge surprise, he will not be back with the Habs. The Quebecer will not have been able to meet the expectations (too high) that the organization had for him at the time. Evan Rawal of Colorado Hockey Now as well as Marco D'Amico of Montreal Hockey Now chatted about Drouin's possible next destination with some very interesting points. Indeed, the CH's 27 would be linked to the Colorado Avalanche for several reasons, including the logical one of recapturing his junior chemistry with Nathan MacKinnon. With all the talk of the Avalanche's needs on offense and the $20 million left to sign eight players, Drouin's arrival would make even more sense. So why not Drouin? He'll probably come very cheap, he has skills, and yes, there's the MacKinnon connection. He also adds some versatility, as he has adapted to the center game over the years. Expectations just have to be realistic at this point in his career. You bring him in for cheap, take him out of the crazy hockey market that is Montreal and see if you can catch lightning in a bottle. After years, it makes sense.

Yes, everyone knows Nathan MacKinnon and Jonathan Drouin were dynamic together a decade ago.

But could Drouin provide value to the Avalanche now?

I reached out to @MTLhockeynow to know more about Drouin, his recent play, and if he'd fit on the Avs.https://t.co/PF5YK5Uueu- Evan Rawal (@evanrawal) May 15, 2023
You have to admit that Jonathan at a salary of say two million for one year is really not a big risk for a training squad.
