When the Canadiens announced the acquisition of Sean Monahan last summer, it came as a surprise to many. However, the veteran's start to the season has charmed Montreal fans. Now that he will be an uncompensated independent player, Monahan will be free as a bird on July 1. Unless Kent Hughes comes to an agreement with him. That's exactly what Chris Johnston says. No guarantee he re-signs with the #Habs but I think there has been at least some discussions about that. https://t.co/LsFJmW6ABn- HabsLinks (@HabsLinks) June 8, 2023
It has to be said that this isn't totally surprising, since Monahan fits perfectly with the type of personality and player Hughes is looking for. If the GM is able to sign him to a modest salary, don't be surprised to see number 91 back in Montreal next season.
