This evening both Leon Draisaitl and the Edmonton Oilers organization have released statements bashing the NHL for suspending Connor McDavid. The NHL made the controversial and bold decision to to suspend Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid yesterday for three games. With McDavid receiving the suspension late yesterday afternoon most of today different NHL players and organizations have been giving their response to the move by the NHL. Tonight it was McDavid's teammate Leon Draisaitl as well as the Edmonton Oilers organization themselves who both spoke out against the NHL for what they believe is too harsh of a punishment for McDavid.
Leon Draisaitl and the Edmonton Oilers organization bash the NHL for suspending Connor McDavid
First up was an interview with Draisaitl where he called out the NHL claiming that the league does not care to have the best players playing each night. Well I guess we don't overly care about having our best players in the league in the game.

This quote from Draisaitl clearly comes from frustration and is a bit more of an emotional response than a critically thought out one as of course the NHL wants its stars to play as many nights as possible. Then came the statement from the Edmonton Oilers organization themselves where they took more of a diplomatic approaching confirming their frustration but standing behind McDavid through the process. The Oilers organization is disappointed and we share in our fans' frustration over the three-game suspension of our captain Connor McDavid. We support him through this process and the organization and our fans look forward to having him back in the lineup vs. Seattle next week

After all of these reactions have now come in from Draisaitl, the Oilers organization and even other NHL stars like Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin it seems the clear sentiment is that McDavid did not deserve this severe of a punishment. Over the next couple of days all eyes will be on the NHL and McDavid himself to see if either party directly involved in the suspension hearing makes a statement regarding the outcome. As this situation continues to develop we will pass along the latest news and notes.
