Lane Hutson is no ordinary hockey player. A bit like Cole Caufield, his small stature brings its share of concerns, but he's proven he can easily play in the NCAA and on the international scene. Now it remains to be seen at NHL level, but it won't be for a long time. Speaking of the NCAA, an impressive statistic was highlighted, as he is the under-19 defenseman with the highest point total since the 2012-13 lockout with 48. His closest pursuer is Adam Fox with 40. And that's saying something! We're talking about a Norris Trophy winner and one of the best offensive defensemen in the league. We're not saying that Hutson will be as good as Fox. Let's just say he's got a few crusts to pick to get to that level. But it's a testament to his great potential. What's important for Hutson is his progression and consistency. If he manages to play another season as productive this year, we'll really have something to get excited about.
