Derek Ryan's New Team Has Been Revealed Following His Placement On Waivers By The Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers placed their player Derek Ryan on waivers yesterday, and now that the 24-hour window has passed, we know who his new team is.

The Edmonton Oilers have decided to make a serious roster move after signing defenseman John Klingberg. Fellow forward Derek Ryan was put on waivers yesterday, but no teams decided to pick him up off of it.

Derek Ryan's new team will be the AHL's Bakersfield Condors

This left him surprisingly able to now join the AHL side with the Bakersfield Condors.

Of course, Ryan has not had the best season to boast this time around, but he has previously been used by the Oilers for their bottom six to provide support and some scoring alongside other playmakers.

This does raise a question as to why he did not get snapped up by another NHL side.

It appears that he will now have to go play for the Condors, which would put an unfortunate stop to Ryan's four seasons in the NHL and 59 points while with the Oilers over 250 games.

Considering his age, these numbers certainly aren't abrupt but aren't favorable to him. This could indicate a new era for the aged forward.
