The story of Adam Johnson has been center stage of the hockey world since the day of his accident. He did unfortunately pass away and now multiple former NHL players have said they do not believe it was an accident.

Former NHL Players Believe Johnson's Passing Wasn't An Accident

After his passing many former players have taken to social media to share their condolences and memories with Adam Johnson. Some other players have spread rumors and their opinion that Johnson's passing wasn't caused by an accident.

The first to share this thought was former NHL enforcer Daniel Carrillo.

My heart goes out to the Johnsons and their family and friends during this difficult time

That being said, and I've hesitated to say anything but, this is not a hockey play or a «freak accident»

I'm sure the player didn't mean to catch him in the throat, but he does seem to intentionally throw his leg behind him to catch some piece of Adam

Either way, a senseless and avoidable tragedy

Please be safe out there and keep your skates on the ice

Regardless of how you view the avoidable tragedy that happened to Adam Johnson, how does the hockey world ensure this doesn't happen again?

After seeing the incident involving Adam Johnson, that Bush league needs to shut down for investigation immediately. I was literally appalled and sickened by what I saw. It looked intentional. It was a Kung fu kick. My eyes are not lying tell me I'm wrong

Horrible incident and I can't imagine what the family is going thru.

I refuse to believe the defender targeted that area on purpose, but I do think it was an incredibly reckless attempt at disrupting Johnson's path into the middle ice.

Methot's position implies less malice and intent than the rest of these opinions from the other players. Now the local police are taking the next step in their process to see where the truth is.

Local Police Investigating Hockey Tragedy

Today it was announced by Greg Wyshynski that police in England will be investigating the circumstances surrounding the event.

Police in England are investigating the death of former NHL player Adam Johnson

South Yorkshire Police announced Monday that "officers remain at the scene carrying out enquiries and our investigation into the circumstances ... remain ongoing."

This will continue to be an ongoing story until the police investigation is concluded. Regardless of the results we continue to hope that Adam Johnson's family and friends find closure after such a painful loss.
