It is no secret that the Edmonton Oilers have had no luck whatsoever when it comes to their goaltending this year. On a personal level, the year has been even worse for Jack Campbell specifically, as he continues to struggle to find his game at the AHL level.
Campbell Pulled During Start In American Hockey League
The 31-year-old netminder was sent down to the AHL early in the season after he put up a 1-4 record, a 4.50 goals-against-average, and an .873 save percentage through his first five games. Since then he hasn't had much of an easier time stopping pucks at the AHL level. Last night he was pulled after giving up 4 goals on 21 shots. Coachella Valley up 4-1. Rather, he continues to give up goals that NHL caliber, or even AHL caliber goaltenders should not give up. If it's one goal every 5 games then that is one thing, but in Campbell's case these leaky goals have been a nightly occurrence.

Here are 2 of the 4 goals Jack Campbell allowed last night in the AHL. Pure gross, weak and not NHL worthy. Please Holland and Jackson take note of this. The Oilers do have a goaltender prospect that is looking pretty good for the Condors right now, but Campbell is taking away all his starts as the parent team continues to hope for a miracle that Campbell can find his game again. At the end of the day though, something has to give and Campbell could very well find himself on his way to the ECHL.
