The Dallas Stars announced today that they have reached an agreement with one of their top players, Joe Pavelski, on a one-year contract extension that will pay him $3.5 million.

This is a great deal for the Stars, as they will technically get a bargain with their forward next year. However, as tipster Frank Seravalli mentions, there are several performance bonuses attached to his deal. If he reaches all of his bonuses, the American could receive $6.0M in total next year. Despite being 38 years old, Pavelski is still going strong with 37 points, including 12 goals, in 38 games. He's a great veteran to have on the team as they look to make a strong push in the playoffs this season.
