July 1 is a well-known date in hockey, as it marks the opening of the free-agent market. A month earlier, on June 1, is another very important, but less well-known, date. League officials have two days left to come to an agreement with certain prospects who have never been under contract with the team and whose rights expire. This is the case for two of the organization's goalkeepers, Frederik Dichow and Joe Vrbetic. Obviously, Kent Hughes can't get along with every prospect, especially since the CH has had so many to draft in recent years. So there are some tough decisions to be made, and this is particularly the case for Frederik Dichow, who did very well at the last World Championship.
