As we told you earlier today, one of Matvei Michkov's KHL coaches reassured everyone that the young prodigy will be free to move to the NHL after his KHL contract. The excellent Anthony Martineau also interviewed Michkov's teammate and former QMJHL player, Dmitri Zavgorodniy. The latter had a clear message for Habs fans: He definitely wants to play in the NHL. That's his dream! Every hockey player wants to play in the NHL and win the Stanley Cup. I can tell you he's very excited to be drafted. He often asks me how things are going in Canada and the United States. He asks me what the managers of the different teams will be looking for in him and how he should behave. I just keep telling him to be himself. People will love him very quickly. - Dmitri Zavgorodniy Knowing Quebec well, having played for the Rimouski Océanic, Dmitry had a lot to add: If I were the Canadiens' general manager and I realized that Matvei was still available in the fifth spot, I'd be speechless at first... and I'd definitely take him! This guy instantly raises your team's competitive level. Matvei is like the people of Montreal: he's passionate about hockey! He's one of you! Mishkov and Montreal sound like the perfect mix to me! - Dmitri Zavgorodniy

What if I told you that the picture regarding Matvei Michkov is immensely less alarming than what the 736282 rumors say?

One of his instructors at SKA agreed to talk to me.

His words are both reassuring... and very exciting.https://t.co/vbK880QA1v- Anthony Martineau (@Antho_Martineau) May 29, 2023
