During his show on BPM Sports today, former NHL player Georges Laraque made a major statement regarding Juraj Slafkovsky and his current situation with the Montreal Canadiens. For the former NHL strongman, it is unequivocal that the Tricolore is repeating the mistakes of the past, especially with Jesperi Kotkaniemi, the former third overall pick of the organization in 2018. For his development, we're scrapping him like Kotkaniemi. He needs to play big minutes, he needs to play in Laval, he needs to dominate. There's no business there [in Montreal]. - Georges Laraque The latter doesn't go out of his way to openly say what he thinks about the management of the Canadiens' first overall pick. Playing with Pezzetta on the 4th trio, forget it, what do you want him to do! For me, the Habs need to get their act together, I understand the plan, but plans can change at any time. - Georges Laraque His radio buddy, Max Truman, brought up another point by mentioning that this is not the same management group as it was during the failed episode with the Finn. According to them, the new group in place formed by Kent Hughes, Jeff Gorton and Martin St. Louis, don't see the pattern that tends to resemble that of KK. I'm okay with sending Slafkovsky to Laval, it's more because he'd be in a better hockey environment with a scrappy team that has been rolling very well lately, and scoring a lot of goals. The playoffs are always a doable scenario, especially if a talent like the big Slovak is added to the lineup. However, this is not Jeff Gorton's first barbecue as a leader, and it's certainly not the first player Kent Hughes has to take care of. Ultimately, I have every confidence that if Martin St. Louis felt that the young man no longer belonged with the big club, he would go to the Rockets immediately. You have to trust the hockey men who are currently in charge of the Canadiens, I sincerely believe that they know what they are doing!
