Greek professional goaltender suddenly passes away at just 28 years old

Tonight sad reports have confirmed that former Greek professional goaltender Dimitris Skotis has passed away suddenly at the age of 28.

This evening the hockey world has felt the impact of yet another tragic and sudden loss of a passionate hockey player.

Greek goaltender Dimitris Skotis who played in the AtlHL in Greece which is one of the top men's leagues in the country has sadly passed away according to multiple reports.

In his hockey career, Skotis had the great opportunity to suit up for several teams in the top league in Greece including the Athens Cyclopes, Athens Titans, and Athens Minotaurs.

While Skotis did not have the opportunity to have a long professional career he took advantage of the time he did have playing with three teams in total.

First Skotis played for the Athens Minotaurs where he went 3-0 and made a total of 28 saves in those appearances.

Over his stints with the Cyclopes and Titans Skotis did not find as much success playing just a handful of games for each team but he played with a lot of spirit and passion for the game.

This unfortunate passing is the latest event in what has been a sad year around the hockey world.

Of course over the summer Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau passed away in an accident in New Jersey during the offseason.

More recently a New York High School hockey star named Connor Kasin sadly passed away during a charity game.

While the hockey community as a whole has endured a lot over the last several months with such tragedy the support of the community continues around the families of these now passed incredible athletes.
