This afternoon a new report has indicated that a top prospect for the Tampa Bay Lightning has been suspended for a serious offense. Suspensions in professional hockey come for all different kinds of reasons some for physical acts while others are for verbal problems. This afternoon news has broken that Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Maxim Groshev has been suspended for a serious act toward another player during a game in the AHL.
Lightning Prospect Maxim Groshev Suspended 10-Games By The AHL
According to the reports Groshev was suspended 10 games for insensitive language directed toward another player while playing against the Rochester Americans.

While it is unclear what Groshev said or to who clearly the remark was deemed to be egregious enough to warrant significant punishment. A 10 game suspension in any league let alone professional hockey is a severe indictment towards any player who receives such a punishment from their league. Groshev, 23, is in his second season with the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL playing 46 games and tallying 11 points. He was selected in the third round of the 2020 NHL Draft and seen as a promising prospect at the time playing in Russia but has not lived to expectations so far in his professional career. It remains to be seen what Groshev's career holds but this clearly will have an impact on how he is viewed by the Lightning and the NHL as a whole. Groshev will now likely serve his suspension without an appeal and be required to attend some sort of classes or program to atone for what he has done. As more information is made available on this situation we will pass it along to you.
