Tonight according to multiple sources the Calgary Flames have scratched top-six forward Andrei Kuzmenko as they are reportedly close to sending him away in a trade.

Tonight reports are coming in from all over the NHL confirming that the Calgary Flames are scratching Andrei Kuzmenko just before game time tonight.

Since this initial report has come out Frank Seravalli and Elliotte Friedman have added information confirming that a trade is in the works involving Kuzmenko heading to the Philadelphia Flyers.

While the deal is not completed it seems that an agreement and negotiations are far down the path to getting done.

According to further reports the Flames will also be sending one of their top prospects Jakob Pelletier to the Flyers as well.

With the Flyers in the middle of a game, the trade will likely have to wait to be completed once their game is finalized.

In return for Pelletier and Kuzmenko the Flames will be receiving a pair of top-six forwards from the Philadelphia Flyers in Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee.

The deal will officially send Pelletier and Kuzmenko along with a pair of draft picks including a second-round pick to the Flyers with Frost and Farabee heading to the Flames.

Kuzmenko arrived to the Flames organization along with prospects as a part of the deal that sent Elias Lindholm the other way to the Canucks.

Now Kuzmenko is once again on the move after spending a short time in Calgary with the Flames.

Since arriving in Calgary Kuzmenko has played 66 games for the Flames and tallied 22 points while playing in a top-six role many nights.

He will now head to Philadelphia where he once again will get a fresh start looking to get back to the incredible peak he had his rookie season with the Canucks where he tallied 74 points in 81 games.

As for the Flames end of this deal, they will be getting a pair of highly skilled forwards who are under the age of 26.

Frost has been a consistent middle-six player averaging around 40 points per season over the last couple of seasons.

Farabee likewise has several seasons in the 30-40 point range topping out at 50 points in 2023-24.

Both players are incredibly skilled and could inject some much-needed flash and excitement into the Flames lineup this season in front of Dustin Wolf and the rest of the squad.

It will be interesting to see if the Flames coaching staff can unlock an extra layer of offense for either Farabee or Frost and take their careers to the next level.

As details continue to come in regarding the details of the full trade and what the Flames will be receiving in exchange for Kuzmenko we will continue to update this story.
