Today NHL legend Jaromir Jagr announced that he will be selling a majority stake in his team in Czechia the Kladno Knights prompting people to wonder what he is up to. Jaromir Jagr has been away from the NHL for several seasons now after being released by the Calgary Flames back in the 2017-18 season. Since leaving the NHL Jagr has continued his career in hockey playing for the Kladno Knights in the Czech Extraliga. During his time with Kladno Jagr even decided to invest in the team becoming a partial owner while still playing for the team the last several years. At the age of 52 Jagr is in what he has confirmed will be his final season playing professional hockey and is still doing so for Kladno. With the end of his career on the horizon, Jagr has announced that he will be selling 80% of his share of the Kladno Knights to businessman Tomas Drastil. When asked about the move Jagr confirmed that this will be the end of an era for him but the beginning of a new and hopefully more successful era ahead. Something is coming to an end, Jagr said. But a new era, and I hope a more successful one, is about to start. With this specific comment from Jagr many believe that his days of investing in sports teams are not done and that his sights may soon be set back on the NHL.
Jaromir Jagr Linked To Minority Ownership With The Pittsburgh Penguins
Earlier this week the Fenway Sports Group announced that they were beginning the process to sell a minority ownership part of the Pittsburgh Penguins to interested buyers.

The Fenway Sports Group are expected to keep control of the franchise and only sell off a small portion to other interested investors but the timing of this announcement along with the move made by Jagr has sparked conversation. Of course, Jagr is a former Pittsburgh Penguin where he spent many incredible years and was recently honored with a jersey retirement ceremony. If Jagr were to invest in an NHL team the Pittsburgh Penguins are one of the teams that would make the most sense.

While it likely could take a while for a potential deal to materialize between Jagr and the Penguins from all the comments that Jagr made plus the recent Penguins announcement this scenario seems plausible. Over the next couple of weeks, all eyes will be on the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Fenway Sports Group, and Jaromir Jagr to see if they can make this a reality.
