Today a new interview with former Boston Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk revealed which of his Bruins teammates he feared the most when meeting them.

The Boston Bruins have undergone a lot of change over the past several years. Players like David Krejci, Zdeno Chara, and Patrice Bergeron retired. The captaincy was passed on to Brad Marchand. Now this offseason the Bruins lost veteran forward Jake DeBrusk in free agency to the Vancouver Canucks.

Since signing with the Vancouver Canucks Jake DeBrusk has opened up about his time with the Boston Bruins. First, he discussed how things ended in Boston with him requesting several trades before eventually just becoming a free agent.

Today he ended up changing his tune on Boston and talking about a more positive experience early in his career with the Bruins. He revealed in this new story the player who intimidated him the most early in his career Zdeno Chara.

Jake DeBrusk opens up about meeting Zdeno Chara for the first time

When Jake DeBrusk first arrived in Boston then Bruins captain Zdeno Chara was at the peak of his game. With this came a reputation as the biggest and most terrifying man in hockey. When Jake DeBrusk met Zdeno Chara he had these same assumptions.

Super calm demeanor. Like such a nice guy and I love Z, but at the beginning, you're intimidated. You are straight up intimidated seeing Z for the first time, DeBrusk recalled when he appeared on «The Cam & Strick Podcast» on Tuesday. «I remember the first time I saw him on the ice; it was even more intimidating. We had a one-on-one drill, and I was like, Oh my God, I don't even know how to attack this guy right now.' It's like I never seen anything like (him) at the time, but you get used to it as time goes on.

Jake DeBrusk then goes on to talk about how Zdeno Chara broke the ice between the two. According to Jake DeBrusk tipping Zdeno Chara slapshots in practice was exactly what was needed to create a friendship.

He brought out like 15 pucks and started bombing shots and told me to stay there, DeBrusk recalled. I got a couple of pieces of a couple and stuff, but I was like, Oh my God.' And he started laughing at me at the end. That just goes to show what kind of guy he is, even in training camp practice.

In the end, the two would become friends and teammates shortly after until Zdeno Chara eventually left Boston. With how much Jake DeBrusk seems to love his former captain one has to wonder if Zdeno Chara's departure was the beginning of tough times for Jake DeBrusk with the Bruins.
