The Boston Bruins had a solid start to Game 4, feeding off the energy from the TD Garden fans and nabbing a 2-0 lead in the first period thanks to David Pastrnak's power-play rocket and Brandon Carlo's sneaky shot through traffic. Yet as the game went on, things got messy. Their puck handling got sloppy, and their defense in front of goaltender Jeremy Swayman left much to be desired. <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/spittinchiclets/status/1789810972527354078'> </a></blockquote></div> Then came that controversial moment when Sam Bennett pushed Charlie Coyle into Swayman, leading to the equalizer. <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/spittinchiclets/status/1789820095310483705'> </a></blockquote></div> <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/hockeydaily365/status/1789822464349921655'> </a></blockquote></div> The NHL Player Safety Department had a chance to weigh in on Bennett's earlier jab at Marchand, but they decided to let it slide. And wouldn't you know it, Bennett ended up back in the spotlight later in Game 4. <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/nhl_on_tnt/status/1789780622124196210'> </a></blockquote></div> Now, the Bruins thought they had a solid case for a challenge when Bennett shoved Coyle into Swayman. It seemed pretty clear-cut. <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/mikegrinnell_/status/1789820036615381358'> </a></blockquote></div> Yet the replay center and the on-ice officials had a different take. Even in what looked like a textbook situation, they saw things differently. <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/mikegrinnell_/status/1789822572529340583'> </a></blockquote></div> The failed challenge gave Florida another power play and although they didn't score on it, they would take the lead shortly after that. <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/spittinchiclets/status/1789822463657795693'> </a></blockquote></div> Swayman, whose 40-save performance was the only reason the Bruins were in this game late, voiced his displeasure. <q> «The fact is Coyle was pushed into me and I couldn't play my position.» Jeremy Swayman on Sam Bennett's tying goal.</q> <div align='center'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/BruinsDaily/status/1789837136943849821'> </a></blockquote></div> That said the Bruins haven't been the better team since Game 1. They're just not on the same level as these Panthers. Florida kept them under 20 shots on goal for the third straight game. Even with their goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky looking shaky, the Bruins can't create many quality scoring chances. Now, the Bruins are heading back to Florida with a pretty hefty 3-1 series deficit and on the brink of being eliminated by these South Beach Cats for the second straight season.
