Fans of the Boston Bruins will not be happy to learn today that Panthers forward Sam Bennett will not be receiving any supplementary discipline for his hit on Brad Marchand last night.

The deadline for the Department of Player Safety to announce supplementary discipline is 5PM EST the day after the incident occurred. Since Bennet's hit was yesterday, and that 5PM EST deadline has passed, we can now confirm that he will not be facing any kind of supplementary discipline.

Bennett got away with a lot last night, including the hit on Marchand that appeared to knock him out of the contest. On the play, he also got a right jab in on his head, potentially delivering the blow that forced the Bruins captain to miss the rest of the game.

Dirty.

The NHL was supposedly keeping a close eye on this game, leading fans to question how serious the statement really was. Needless to say, Bruins fans are not particularly thrilled about how these events played out.

Furthermore, head coach Jim Montgomery updated Marchand's status after the game, listing him as day-to-day. Hopefully this mean he has a chance to play in game four, or at least at some point in the series.

Jim Montgomery provided an update on Brad Marchand: «He's upper body, day to day.»
