Tonight in NHL preseason action Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin has found himself in trouble after a huge hit to the head of Blackhawks prospect AJ Spellacy. The NHL preseason is often a time for young players to shine and earn potential roster spots in the NHL. Unfortunately tonight the actions of an NHL veteran have severely impacted one rookie's ability to shine. Chicago Blackhawks prospect AJ Spellacy a 2024 3rd round pick got an opportunity to play his first NHL preseason game tonight. At one point in the game AJ Spellacy was looking to use his speed and physicality to his advantage laying a big hit on Lucas Raymond. Immediately after hitting Lucas Raymond, AJ Spellacy was chased around the ice and slashed by an enraged Lucas Raymond. Despite the annoyance, AJ Spellacy got the puck and was carrying it up the ice. Several seconds after moving the puck along Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin came along and hit AJ Spellacy with a dirty check to the head.

The hit led to a brawl on the ice between the two teams.
