The Edmonton Oilers are looking to go one step further this season after reaching the Stanley Cup Finals, but they've still got some huge holes on their team. After finally reaching the Stanley Cup Finals in the Connor McDavid era, the Edmonton Oilers have been hard at work patching their holes on the roster this off-season, adding the likes of Jeff Skinner, Vasily Podkolzin and Victor Arvidsson to give their forward group depth. Unfortunately, they neglected to address one glaring issue, and according to Insider Bob Stauffer, that is something that may come back to bite them down the line.

Currently on the right side, the Oilers have superstar Evan Bouchard, but behind him they will reportedly rely on a combination of Ty Emberson, Josh Brown and Troy Stecher. All three have the talent to compete at the NHL level, but when looking around at other Stanley Cup contenders, it's safe to say that the depth and talent is on another level entirely. Right now, the team are hoping that Emberson, who was acquired in the Cody Ceci deal can continue his strong start at the NHL level, but with just 30 games under his belt, they'll need him to adapt his game very quickly. With Evander Kane's salary now opening up for the Oilers, they have the salary cap to address the issue, but with very few names out there that provide a major upgrade at an affordable price, this may continue to be an issue all season long. As always, the team will seemingly just hope their star power up front can make up for any short comings, but expect Stan Bowman to be very active in looking to upgrade the position.
