The Edmonton Oilers overcame plenty to chase the Stanley Cup in 2024, and if they go a step further in 2025, it will be in spite of their crazy travel schedule. The start of the 2023/24 season couldn't have gone worse for the Edmonton Oilers, but after struggles and the firing of their coach, they swiftly turned things around, ultimately pushing the Florida Panthers to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. The team were aggressive this off-season improving their roster, with high hopes that they can chase their first Stanley Cup since 1990. Unfortunately, their travel schedule is absolutely brutal, with a recent report revealing that they will travel exactly 50,000 miles in the upcoming campaign, ranking them fourth most in the league. This is the distance traveled by every NHL team in the upcoming season 😳✈️

Plenty of contenders out East such as New York, Toronto, Boston and Colorado rank in the bottom half of the league in distance travelled, which will certainly be a hindrance to their Cup hopes. With so much talent and fantastic depth, they've got the team to take it one step further in 2024/25 despite this, but when things get tough down the stretch, the team will no doubt feel the fatigue and it may ultimately cost them.
