We now know the exact amount of time Oilers' Darnell Nurse is going to miss after suffering head injury

It's official, we now know how much time Darnell Nurse of the Edmonton Oilers is going to miss after getting hit by Leafs' Ryan Reaves, and it will be 5 to 10 days.

Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch says defenseman Darnell Nurse will be sidelined for five to ten days after taking a shot to the head courtesy of Toronto Maple Leafs forward Ryan Reaves in the second period of Edmonton's 4-3 overtime loss in Toronto last night.

While skating behind his team's net with the puck, Nurse was hit by Reaves, who delivered a shoulder check that he could not get up from.

The NHL Department of Player Safety reviewed the play and gave Reaves a five-game suspension for the dangerous hit.

In his absence, the Oilers will dress 11 forwards and seven defencemen for the game against the Habs.

Back-up goalie Calvin Pickard will get the start, while defenceman Josh Brown, who was recalled earlier in the week from the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League, will make his first appearance with the Oilers.

The team is also dealing with the continuing absence of forward Viktor Arvidsson, who is set to miss his third successive game with an undisclosed injury.

But the Oilers, as they battle a grueling stretch in their schedule and the temporary loss of important players, are focused on finding solutions.

The Oilers then play in Ottawa the very next night against the Senators, which Darnell Nurse will likely not be playing in either.
