The Los Angeles Kings have taken a major step back in the Pacific Division this summer, and now they've signed former Oilers blue liner Caleb Jones. In the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Los Angeles Kings once again fell to the division rival Edmonton Oilers, and after watching them load up, they've now inked a former Oiler to a cheap deal. We've signed defenseman Caleb Jones to a one-year, two-way contract,

On Saturday, the Kings officially announced that they have signed Caleb Jones to a one-year, two-way deal, bringing in a veteran presence that will provide them plenty of depth on the blue line. With the Kings core ageing, their time to win a Stanley Cup is now, but with the Oilers, Stars and Avalanche all loading up in the Eastern Conference, time is running out for them. Jones is a former fourth-round pick of the Oilers from back in the 2015 NHL Draft, and while he hasn't yet lived up to the lofty expectations that some saw for him, he has been a solid defenseman, spending time in both the NHL and AHL in recent years. In 2023/24, Jones tallied 5 assists over 25 games with the Colorado Avalanche, and while it may not be the big time acquisition that Kings fans were hoping for, it's a low-risk, high-reward deal could pay off in a big way this upcoming season.
